The Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Mr Victor Liu, and the CAD representatives attended the webinar jointly organised by the World Health Organization and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) on “Considerations and Challenges in Resuming Air Travel in the Context of COVID-19: Multi-sectoral Approach”.

The CAD delegation attended the Civil Air Navigation Services Organization 24th Annual General Meeting and relevant meetings through video conferencing.

5 November

The Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) implemented the enhanced wake turbulence separation (e-WTS), among the first batch of airports in Asia-Pacific to adopt the new International Civil Aviation Organization proposal.

9 December

The CAD organised a simulated search and rescue exercise with the participation of the China Rescue and Salvage Bureau, Government Flying Services, Hong Kong Observatory and Marine Department.

DGCA, Mr Victor Liu, was elected as the Chairperson of the ICAO’s Regional Aviation Safety Group - Asia Pacific Region (RASG-APAC) at its 10th meeting.

28 March

The runway capacity at HKIA was increased to a maximum of 69 movements per hour with the introduction of e-WTS.

31 March

The CAD presented the revised Air Operator’s Certificate to Cathay Pacific Airways (CPA) for the official entry-into-service of Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft to CPA’s operations.
