Senior Operations Officer (Senior Operations Inspector) | |

Master Pay Scale Point 45 (HK$123,980 per month) to Master Pay Scale Point 49 (HK$142,840 per month). |
Entry Requirements: |
Candidates should have (a) (i) a valid International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) contracting state’s Airline Transport Pilot’s Licence (ATPL) (Aeroplane) with a current Class One Medical Certificate (See Note 1) and eight years’ relevant post-licence experience and at least 5 000 hours of commercial transport flying experience of which a minimum of 3 000 hours should be on multi-engine aeroplanes; OR (ii) a valid ICAO contracting state’s Commercial Pilot’s Licence (CPL) (Aeroplane) with Multi-engine Instrument Rating; and a minimum of seven years’ post-licence experience in civil aviation management and operations or as a regulator; and have passed the ATPL examinations; (b) strong command of written and spoken English; AND (c) a pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law test (See Note 2). |

Duties: |
A Senior Operations Officer (Senior Operations Inspector) is mainly deployed on flight operations matters including – (a) conducting station facilities, ramp and base inspections, and other safety oversight inspections of the Air Operator’s Certificates (AOC) holders to ensure that the operator’s documentation with respect to operations and training manuals, and all other instructions to operating staff are in compliance with the established policies and standards; (b) observing professional pilot training, monitoring standards and ensuring that the training is carried out in accordance with all relevant legislation; (c) examining persons for appointment as authorized examiners for the grant of Private Pilot Licence and handling matters on Flying Training Organization and ground training courses; (d) investigation of aircraft accidents and incidents; and (e) assisting in the formulation of policies and requirements on flight standards and operations matters. (Notes: Post holders are required to travel extensively on duty and work irregular hours.) |
Terms of Appointment: |
A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service agreement terms for three years. A gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the contract with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. The amount of gratuity payable will be the sum which, when added to the Government’s contribution to the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes, equals to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period. He/she will be required to serve on agreement terms for at least 3 years before they can be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms. |

A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms. The period of probation is three years or the time taken for the officer to complete and pass the first departmental Specialized Rating Training course and obtain the associated Air Traffic Control rating, and be proficient to perform the duties of the rating independently, whichever is the later and subject to a maximum period of five years. Upon passage of probation bar, the officer may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms. |

Fringe Benefits: | An end-of-contract gratuity may be granted if the contract is completed with satisfactory performance and conduct.
