Workman II - Civil Service Vacancy
Model Scale 1 Pay Scale Point 0 (HK$11,055 per month) to Model Scale 1 Pay Scale Point 8 (HK$13,035 per month)
|Entry Requirements :
Candidates should –
(a) have completed Primary 6 education, or equivalent;
(b) be able to communicate in Cantonese and simple English;
(c) be able to read simple Chinese and simple English; and
(d) be able to write simple Chinese or simple English.
||(1) The post is open to male and female.
(2) Candidates will be required to pass a trade test.
(3) For the purpose of heightening public awareness of the Basic Law (BL) and promoting a culture of learning of BL in the community, assessment of BL knowledge will be included in the recruitment for all civil service jobs. Candidates who are invited to attend the recruitment interview will be tested orally on their BL knowledge during the recruitment interview. The results of the BL assessment will be taken into account only if two candidates are considered equal in all other aspects.
|A Workman II is mainly deployed on –
(a) messengerial duties, including indoor and outdoor collection and delivery of documents, newspapers and articles, and clearing trays in office, etc;
(b) manual work, including moving office furniture and equipment, loading and unloading of stores, stationery and printed materials, and tidying night stand-down rooms, etc;
(c) pantry duties, including serving tea and cleaning work, etc;
(d) minor duties, including photocopying, sorting and faxing of documents, manning reception counter, and opening and locking of doors, etc; and
(e) escorting duties, including escorting visitors/outsiders to and from Airport Restricted Area and within Civil Aviation Department premises, etc.
Note : (1) Workmen II are required to work outdoors, overtime, irregular hours or shifts;
(2) Workmen II will be subject to posting within the Workman II grade and carry out different duties in other Government bureaux/departments when need arises.
|Terms of Appointment :
A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.

Applicants should state in detail in the application forms their academic qualifications attained, working experience, post titles, job duties and nature. Applications which are incomplete, late, submitted by fax or email, not made in the prescribed form or not duly signed will not be considered. Candidates who are selected for trade test/interview will normally receive an invitation (by email or by post) in about six to eight weeks from the closing date for application. The trade test and interview will be conducted separately subject to the number of applications. Those who are not invited for trade test/interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.

||(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(i) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications.
